If you are interested in learning the fundamentals and looking to get a feel for the equipment and flow of handling and shooting the bow, prior to the regular weekly club schedule, these programs are a great fit to learn archery in a streamlined way.

How it works

Introduction and safety briefing:

Every new student starts with a thorough safety briefing. You'll learn the essential safety rules and how to handle your equipment responsibly.


Equipment orientation:

You'll get familiar with the different bows and arrows, as well as all of the other necessary gear. This includes understanding the different parts of the bow, how to string it, and how to properly use the arrows.


Instructor led warm up flow:

Instructor will lead the warm up flow of archery specific grounding, breathing, stretching and centering exercises.


Basic techniques (Try Archery & Archery 101): 

The instructors will teach you the basics of archery techniques, such as stance, knocking the arrow, drawing the bow, aiming, and releasing the arrow. These fundamentals are crucial for developing your skills.




Intermediate Techniques (Archery 201):
The instructors will share with you the tools to bring your skills to the next level physically and introduce the concepts of the internal martial art of archery with mental management techniques such as visualization, grounding and archer’s breathing. 



Supervised practice:

After learning the basics, you'll get to practice shooting under the supervision of your instructors. We'll provide personalized feedback to help you improve your form and accuracy.


Focus of the day:

Will include drills, exercises and Philosophy to build your skills, and your mental awareness that targets specific aspects of the shot cycle, tournament prep, equipment management and more. 


Target practice:

You'll have the chance to shoot and experience the satisfaction of hitting the bullseye. This part of the class is where you can apply what you've learned and see your progress.


Q&A and wrap-up:

At the end of the class, there will be time for questions and answers. The instructor will recap the key points and provide tips for further improvement.

We are located in Dunwoody, near Atlanta, GA and can’t wait to meet you and your family. I’m coach Yale, an experienced archer with over 40 years of archery experience and 9 years of teaching. I’m also a USA Archery NTS Level 4 Coach and founder of the Atlanta Archery Club. As a dad who also found a love for this sport for my family, I truly can’t wait for you to feel the same power and fun we all share in this nurturing community!

  • Is equipment available?

    Yes, equipment is included.

  • Can I bring my own equipment?

    Yes and compound bows pound limit of 70lbs.  No Crossbows permitted at Atlanta Archery Club Range

  • Do we sell equipment?

    Yes & No, We sell arrows, for bows, we help archers determine what equipment will work best for them, where to purchase and do offer equipment set up & tuning services.

  • What do I need to bring?

    Sense of adventure.

  • What do I wear?

    Comfortable clothing and secure long hair.

  • What happens if it rains?

    Our outdoor range has a covered shooting line.  We typically proceed with class in light raining.  If weather requires us to cancel the class, we will reschedule the class date and you’ll be able to attend a different class

  • What is the minimum age to try archery?

    We recommend 7 years old and older.
